George Holowaty, of North Perry Village and formerly of Chardon, died Nov. 13. He was 90.
Memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Nov. 19 at The First Baptist Church of Painesville, 10801 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Painesville. The family will receive friends Nov. 18 from 3-7 p.m. at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.
Mr. Holowaty was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He enjoyed “fixing” things and “tinkering” with cars. His greatest joys were family, friends and fishing. His greatest legacy was laughter.
He was a member of the Fairport Harbor Yacht Club, former member and instructor of the Power Squadron and a lifetime member of the VFW.
He was a retired carpenter and a 65-year member of the Carpenters Local #95.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Bertha (nee Meyers); daughter, Elaine Hurt of Painesville; son Terry (Paula) of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Adam (Danielle) Hurt of Mentor and Nicole (Scott) Nixdorf of Houston; and Sister Marian Ball of California.
His son, Gregory is deceased.
