William L. Singleton, of Geneva and formerly of Chardon, died Jan. 20, 2013, at University Hospitals Geneva Medical Center Hospital. He was 89.
He was born March 30, 1923, in Gassaway, W. Va., and was the husband of the late Mildred M. (nee Nappo) Singleton.
He is survived by his children, Donna Lynch of Monrovia, Calif., Sharon DiBetta of Geneva, Shirley (Mark) Baker of St. Croix, Ernie Singleton of Geneva, Marie (James) Arthur of Madison and Carrie (Dusty) Parker of Painesville; 18 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
He also leaves his brother, James (Louise) Singleton of California; and sisters, Lue Mullins of Tiro, Ohio, and Clara Carmichael of West Virginia.
Mr. Singleton proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He loved to work in his vegetable garden.
He was a member of the VFW Post #6519 and Aerie Eagles #2261, both of Chardon.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 25 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.
The family will receive friends Thursday, 5-7 p.m., at the funeral home.
