Robert “Sonny” R. Simmons, of Concord Township, died Feb. 13, 2013, at David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland. He was 70.
Born Dec. 25, 1942, in Preston County West Virginia, he lived in Eastlake before moving to Concord 28 years ago.
Sonny was a grounds keeper at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township for 29 years. He was an avid gardener and loved attending classic and antique car shows and flea markets.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years Judy (nee McClintock) Simmons of Concord; children, Lisa Crook of Madison and Bobby (Lorena Sironen) Simmons of Montville Township; and grandchildren, Cassie and Rodney Simmons, and Ryan and Jake Crook.
He was predeceased in death by his parents, Howard and Cozy (nee Wiles) Simmons; sons, Rodney, Howard and Robert Simmons; and siblings, Clara "Sis" Lambert, Herbert "Bud" Simmons, Margaret Kellehan, Richard Simmons and Shirley Sperinzo.
The family received friends Feb. 14 from 5-7 p.m. at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Feb. 15 at the funeral home.
