Donald H. Haueter, of Middlefield Township, died Sept. 29, 2012, in Huntsburg Township. He was 78.
Born Nov. 26, 1933, he was a lifelong area resident.
Don did excavating and gravel pit work at Haueter Construction for 60 years, eventually becoming the owner.
He enjoyed working and farming.
Don is survived by his former wife and close friend, Janet (nee Smallwood) Haueter of Huntsburg; daughters, Cynthia (Peter) Stachowski of Middlefield and Jill Haueter of Bainbridge Township; son, Theodore “Ted” Haueter of Huntsburg; grandchildren, Tara and Trevor Haueter of Middlefield and Ashton Stachowski of Middlefield; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and D. Irene (nee Thompson) Haueter; sisters, Nancy Savage, Penelope Rosch and Patricia Haueter; brothers, Theodore, Robert and Richard; and daughter, Susan Haueter.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.
Visitation with family and friends is 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Private family burial to take place at Claridon Center Cemetery.
Donations suggested to Rescue Village or Geauga County Dog Warden.
