Martin Karl Roach, better known as “Marty” or “Shatz,” of Middlefield, died Jan. 27, 2013, in Middlefield after a lengthy illness with his family by his side. He was 64.
He was born April 3, 1948, in Chardon at Corey Hospital to Martin Rodger Roach and Adelheid “Ardie” (nee Zammert) Roach.
Marty was a lifelong resident of the area and was married to Diane Siarkowski.
He was the owner/operator of M. Roach Enterprises and was awarded the One Million Mile Accident Free Ring.
His hobbies included woodworking and tractor pulling.
Marty proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1967-1970, serving two tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the VFW Post 9678 of Middlefield, serving as past post commander and chaplain.
He also was a member of the Buckeye Powers Association.
Survivors include his wife and companion Diane; children, Martin H. (Candice) Roach of West Virginia, John (Pamela) Klomfas of Tennessee, Christine Klomfas of Hiram and David (Cynthia) Klomfas of Middlefield; grandchildren, Savannah Carr, and Brittany, Nicholas, Matthew, Alexandria and Benjamin Klomfas; brother, Rodger Wilheim (Rosemary) Roach of Middlefield; and nieces and nephews, Rodger, Matthew, Brian and Krystal.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A gathering of friends and family will be held Jan. 30 from 4-7 p.m. at Russell Funeral Service, 15670 West High St., Middlefield. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7 p.m.
