Helen K. Trendle, of Newbury Township, passed away Oct. 4, 2012, at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center. She was 99.
She was born Sept. 10, 1913, in Cleveland, daughter of John and Stella Mae (nee Mickneviciene) Gecewich.
Helen was a graduate of Brecksville High School in 1930.
She married Carl G. Trendle in 1970 and lived in this area 40 years.
Helen loved her cats; helped all animal shelters and took in strays. She also had a very good sense of humor.
She will be missed dearly by her friends and family, including her nieces, Joan (Fred) Fales, Carol Ann Filkins and Jan Fear; four nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews; and dear friend Denise Vierling.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Bill Engel; second husband, Carl Trendle in 1974; son, William Engel in 2002; sister, Julia; and brothers, John and Steve.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8 at Russell Funeral Service, 15670 West High St., Middlefield. Father Jay McPhillips of St. Helen’s Catholic Church will officiate.
Visitation will be Monday, 11 a.m. until the service time, at the funeral home. Burial will be at South Newbury Cemetery.
