Joseph Martin Freno, age 85, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013.
Born March 17, 1927, in Gipsy, Pa., he resided in Chester Township for the past 40 years.
Joseph was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II.
He was a member of the Church of Saint Anselm in Chester and was an outdoor enthusiast, often enjoying fishing, hunting and gardening.
Joseph retired from General Electric after 24 years of service.
Survivors are his wife, Dorothy Ann (nee Roy); daughter, Connie White of Chester; sons, Christopher (Gloria) of Chardon and Joseph Michael of Chester; grandchildren, Cari Anne (Christopher DiOrio) Freno, Christina Freno, Katie Freno and David Freno; and sister, Maryann Nemergut.
He was preceded in death by seven sisters and one brother.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Jan. 28 at the Church of Saint Anselm, 12969 Chillicothe Road, Chester.
The family received friends from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27 at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chester.
Interment will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester.
