Robert L. Thayer, of Chardon, died March 18, 2013 at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center. He was 83.
Born Dec. 9, 1929, in Painesville to Leon “Stub” and Opal (nee Post) Thayer, he had been a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Thayer retired as a machinist from Coe Manufacturing in Painesville.
He is survived by his sons, Gary (Barbara) of McDonough, Ga., Chris of Hambden Township and Steve (DeeAnna) of Rome Township; lifelong friend Nina Carver of Rome; grandchildren, Sarah and Katelyn of Rome; sisters, Martha (Ron) Baker of Texas and Jean (Wayne) Ross of Perry; and brother, Ron (Liz) of New Mexico.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. March 21 at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
