George L. Sample, of Hambden Township, died March 7, 2013, at Hospice House in Cleveland. He was 73.
Born Feb. 14, 1940, in Ord, Neb., to Guy and Margaret (nee Vincent) Sample, he had been a longtime area resident.
Mr. Sample served in the U.S. Army and was very active with the Boy Scouts of America with his sons.
George is survived by his wife, Patricia (nee Hecker), of Hambden; sons, Jamie (Vicky) of Aurora and Kelly (Mary Murphy) of Chardon; grandchildren, Morgan and Rachael Sample, Kayla, Bradley and Willy Whitcomb and Alyssa; and great-grandson, Landon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Connie Sample; and two brothers.
The world lost a great man. Thank you for being a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all you met. You will be missed forever, but never forgotten. Rest in peace.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. March 10 at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.
A gathering of friends and family will be held Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
