Richard D. Dunning, of Garrettsville, previously of Chardon, died Jan. 30, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 76.
Born in Cleveland on July 3, 1936, he has been a lifelong area resident.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany for two and a half years.
Mr. Dunning was a tool and die maker for Lincoln Electric in Euclid for 30 years, retiring in 1996.
He was an avid fisherman, golfer and loved playing softball in the senior leagues in Arizona.
He is survived by his wife, MaryAnn (nee Kleppel) Dunning of Garrettsville, whom he married April 4, 1959, in Thompson Township; and children, Michael (Sara) Dunning of Windham, Ronald (Christina) Dunning of Chardon and Denise (George) Owens of Garrettsville.
He also leaves 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly (Donald) Williams of Chardon; and brother, Jim (Holly) Krueger of Chardon.
Mr. Dunning was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Dunning; parents, Homer and Ursella (nee Mellert) Dunning; and three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Feb. 3 at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.
The family will receive friends on from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Private family burial will be held at Larned Cemetery in Chardon Township.
