Elizabeth “Betty” (nee Paige) Mitchell, of Munson Township, died at her residence on Oct. 3, 2012. She was 90.
Born Nov. 27, 1921, in Akron to Harland and Helen (nee Carter) Paige. She lived in Ann Arbor, Mich., prior to moving to Munson six years ago.
A graduate of Buchtel High School in Akron, Elizabeth also attended Akron Business School and Miami University.
Elizabeth married Charles R. Mitchell, sculptor, in Akron on Sept. 12, 1947. She worked at the Cleveland Trust Bank before devoting her time fully to raising her two children.
Betty was a devoted mother, spending time supporting her children in their activities: their swim team and snow skiing, her son’s gymnastics and her daughter’s ballet.
Elizabeth greatly enjoyed travelling to Italy and to Stratford, Ontario, several times per season for the Shakespeare Festival.
Betty retired as a library technician from West Bloomfield High School in Michigan. During retirement, Betty volunteered at the Humane Society Gift Shop in Ann Arbor as well as completing many beautiful counted cross stitch projects.
She is survived by her husband Charles R. Mitchell of Munson; daughter, Melissa (Russell Wulff) Mitchell of Beachwood; son, Michael Mitchell of Paonia, Colo.; grandchildren, Brian Mitchell, Erin (Brian) Kerber, Kate (Paul) Hewitt, Paige and Meredith Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Aidan, Alexa, Ainsley, Ashley and baby girl Hewitt on the way; brother Richard (Gini) Paige of Akron; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Robert; and sister, Edith Minns.
The family would like to thank Cherished Companions and Care Corp Home Health and Hospice for their kindness and compassion.
Private family services were held.
