Alta Rose Randles, of Middlefield, died June 16, 2012, at Briarcliff Manor in Middlefield. She was 97.
She was a Claridon Township resident for more than 45 years and a Burton resident for nine years before moving to Middlefield.
Alta was born April 5, 1915, in Chagrin Falls.
Alta Nelisse married Ralph A. Randles on Dec. 12, 1937, in Green Springs, Ohio.
She was an active member of the Claridon Congregational Church for 62 years, Claridon Study Club, DAR and Hattie Larlham Foundation Auxillary and had participated and volunteered in a variety of other organizations.
She enjoyed writing, traveling and reading.
Alta is survived by her daughter, Linda (William) Angstrom of Middlefield; son, Ralph W. (Kathy) Randles of Burton; grandchildren, William R. Angstrom, Connie (Michael) Hanzlik, Tom (Sally) Blair Jr., Julie (Jeremy) Hunter, Tim (Mandy) Randles and Jeff Randles; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and brother, Robert Nelisse of Akron.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph A. Randles, who died Oct. 19, 1984; daughter, Evelyn Alexander, who passed away Jan. 1, 1987; granddaughter Heather Blair, who died Feb. 15, 1980; sisters, Emma Kovach, who died June 16, 1980, and Ruth Shumaker, who passed away Sept. 17, 1972.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29 at Claridon Congregational Church, 13942 Mayfield Road, Claridon Township.
A private family burial took place at Claridon Center Cemetery.
