CASA for KIDS of Geauga County (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is recruiting volunteers to advocate for the “best interest” of abused and neglected children involved in the juvenile court.

No particular background is required, but volunteers must be at least 25 years of age and have no criminal record. Couples may work together and diversity of age, gender and ethnicity are welcomed.

Professional CASA staff provides 32 hours of pre-service training. Supervision and continuing education is also provided after appointment by the juvenile court to serve as the guardian ad litem.

More volunteers are needed to ensure every child has a voice in court. The next training sessions will be in April.

Those interested in volunteering should call Chris Steigerwald, 440-279-1696, to get more information and begin the application process. An application and interview must be completed prior to training.
