Holiday Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are being sought to organize, pack and deliver meals during the holiday season. The Geauga County Department on Aging volunteers will deliver meals to seniors who are alone Christmas Day.
Volunteers pick up one holiday meal per route, drive it to the senior’s home and spend some time visiting. Volunteers are needed on Christmas Day, Dec. 25.
Preparation and organization assistance begins at 10 a.m. and runs until noon, while drivers arrive at 11:15 a.m. to deliver the holiday meals. All meals are delivered from the Multi-Purpose Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Chardon. To register as a volunteer, call the Geauga County Department on Aging at 440-279-2130.
Homemade Christmas Cookies
The Middlefield Historical Society is accepting orders for homemade Christmas cookies. Cost is $6.50 per one-pound box.
Call Gilberta Town at 440-632-1025 or Betty Rose at 440-632-0459 to place orders. Leave name, daytime phone number and number of boxes wanted.
Pickup is Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Historical Society’s lower level directly off the parking lot at 14979 S. State Ave. Payment due at time of pickup.
Home for the Holidays
The Chardon Square Association is hosting Home for the Holidays on Dec. 13 on and around Chardon Square.
The event includes breakfast with Santa at Pilgrim Christian Church, 202 South Hambden St. from 9-11 a.m. Pictures with Santa will be available to purchase. A gingerbread house contest, made by individuals and professionals, will be on display at The Nest, 520 Water St. Holiday music will be playing along Christmas Tree Alley in the park.
Many shops and restaurants will host open houses with special sales, offers and refreshments. A complete list of participants will be available on the website and at the participating shops.
Free carriage rides around the square will be available from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Rides can be accessed at Antiques on the Square and The Carriage Trade Boutique.
The park will be lit with lights, and the Geauga Lyric Theatre will be featuring “Annie Warbucks.”
Each participant will be collecting food and/or personal care products to be donated to area food pantries. A list of desired items will be available.

Claridon Cookie Walk
Claridon Congregational Church will hold its 15th annual cookie walk Dec. 6 from 9-11:30 a.m. A wide assortment of cookies and candies will be offered at $7 per pound; boxes provided.
The church is handicapped accessible and is located at the intersection of Mayfield and Claridon-Troy roads.
Czech Christmas Bread Sale
DTJ Taborville is selling the traditional Czech Christmas bread by order only. Vanocka, or houska, is a sweet dough with golden raisins and almonds baked into a braided loaf.
Cost is $7 for a two pound loaf. Orders must be placed by Dec. 19 and can be picked up Dec. 21 at DTJ Taborville, 9850 North Blvd. in Auburn Township. Call 440-543-8494 to place orders.
Cordial Connections
Cordial Connections provides the opportunity for single seniors 50 and older to meet new people and enjoy a variety of activities. Meet new friends and enjoy some lively adventures.

Parkman Breakfast with Santa
Parkman Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 6 from 8:30-10 a.m. at the Parkman Com-munity House, 16295 state Route 422.
Bring a camera to take a photo with Santa and enjoy a breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage and pancakes.

Polka Dance Benefit Party
A benefit for the Val Pawlowlski polka radio show on station 830AM will take place Dec. 4 from 5-11 p.m. at the Croatian Lodge, 91 Lake Shore Blvd. in Eastlake. The polka dance Christmas party will feature the Wojtila and Stanger bands.
Chinese Auction Benefit
Mary Yoder’s Amish Kitchen is hosting a Chinese auction benefit Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. All proceeds will support Shop With a Cop and the food pantry in Middlefield. Bidding is from 3-5 p.m.; the drawing begins at 5 p.m. Admission tickets, which include a boxed lunch and 10 complimentary auction tickets, are on sale for $15 at Mary Yoder’s or online at www.maryyodersamishkitchen.com.
Munson Breakfast with Santa
Munson Township’s annual Breakfast with Santa takes place Dec. 6 at the Munson Township Hall, 12210 Auburn Road. Pictures with Santa will be available. Pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee will be served. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 4 to 12. Children under 3 are free.

Dorothy’s Porch Giveaway
The final Dorothy’s Porch Giveaway of clothing for the family, household items and toys for the year will take place Dec. 4 and 5, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Dec. 6, from 9-10:30 a.m., at Celebration Lutheran Church, 10621 Auburn Road in Chardon. The event is free to all.
Pearl Harbor Day
American Legion Post 459 is hosting an event at the Burton Village gazebo on the square at 11 a.m. Dec. 7 to commemorate Pearl Harbor Day. Members of the post will conduct services honoring service men and women. The public is invited. For information, call Bo at 440-834-8764.
Holiday Cookie Sale
The Chardon Eagles FOE Ladies Auxiliary 2261 is holding its third annual holiday cookie sale Dec. 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $6 per pound.
Proceeds benefit the ladies auxiliary scholarship fund. The Fraternal Order of Eagles is located at 317 Water St. in Chardon.
Christmas Rummage Sale
A Christmas rummage sale will be held at Christ Covenant Church on state Route 87 in Middlefield Dec. 4-6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Proceeds benefit Charity Children’s Ministries. Sale will feature gifts, decorations, household items, clothing, Chinese auction and bake sale. Donations are welcome; call 440-632-9510.
Stuff the Van
Junction Auto Sales is hosting a Stuff the Van event to benefit Geauga County Job and Family Services through Dec. 10. Donations of new toys and clothing and nonperishable foods can be dropped off at Junction Auto Sales GMC or Chrysler buildings.
Monetary donations will also be accepted. Make checks payable to Special Services and include Sponsor a Family in the memo portion of the check.
Boy Scout Spaghetti Dinner
