Now in its eighth year, Geauga County Job and Family Services is again sponsoring Help Me Learn Day, a school supply distribution program that assists low income children in Geauga County.
Help Me Learn Days will be held Aug. 11 at Geauga County Job and Family Services, 12480 Ravenwood Drive in Chardon and Aug. 14 at Chagrin Falls Park Community Center, 7060 Woodland Ave. in Chagrin Falls. Supplies distributed range from crayons and pencils to binders and backpacks.
Families must preregister and demonstrate a financial need to qualify.
In 2013, Help Me Learn Day served more than 615 children from every school district in Geauga County. Last year, numerous groups, clubs and vacation Bible schools collected supplies for the event. Families hosting parties, birthdays and reunions asked guests bring school supplies. Churches collected supplies during their Sunday offerings.
Monetary donations are used to purchase school supplies. If the funds allow, monies donated to Help Me Learn Day will also assist families with fees to participate in after school activities for the coming school year.
For more information on making a donation or volunteering to set up or pass out supplies, call Sara Shininger at 440-285-9141, ext. 1263.
