Geauga Dairymen

The Geauga Dairymen 4-H Club attended Dairy Palooza on May 3 at the Wayne County Fairgrounds. Older members attended quality assurance that was specific to dairy. The younger kids attended sessions, which talked about handling animals, learning about total mix rations while making trail mix and making beautiful paintings.

The club shared lunch with 150 or more attendants. In the afternoon, club members attended more sessions to learn about clipping and blending top-lines. They also learned tips about showmanship from a local judge and made ice cream with liquid nitrogen at the end of the day.

The next meeting is on May 24 when the club will participate in the Geauga County Department on Aging’s spring cleanup event. The members will clean up an elderly neighbor’s yard. (Submitted by Emma Niehus, news reporter)
