Geauga Beef and Swine
The Geauga Beef and Swine 4-H Club had a meeting March 9 at Pizza Hut. Members went over the minutes, treasurer’s report and sales report.
The theme for this year’s fair is from the feed pale to the livestock sale. The group motioned to approve the new constitution and to sell candy bars to get into the honors club.
The next meeting will be at Ernst Lanes for bowling on April 6 at 3 p.m. Bowling starts at 4 p.m.
If anyone is interested in joining the club, please come to this meeting. (Submitted by Haley Frank, news reporter)
Geauga Prime Time
Geauga Prime Time sponsored a presentation on animal ethics and sportsmanship on March 18 that was open to any 4-H’ers who wanted to come. The presentation was set up by Western Reserve’s own Holly, Jeremy, Tom and Christy. The club would like to thank them for sacrificing their time and effort to come out and help members learn about animal ethics.
After the presentation, a decision was made to participate in the Russell Farmer’s Market to help promote the livestock sale by handing out flyers. The club will also be selling coffee and donuts during its time there.
Members are to bring materials to make Easter cards for the County Home at the April meeting. Donations were collected for Geauga Hunger Task Force and a basket was donated to the Chinese auction for a Lake County 4-H girl in a sledding accident.
Geauga Prime Time members are selling candy bars for the 4-H advisory committee. Money was collected for the turkey and duck projects at the March meeting.
Reminders were given to come to quality assurance; swine tagging, if applicable; and skillathon to participate in the Great Geauga County Fair this year. (Submitted by Jonathan Anderson, news reporter)
