GANG Welcomes Student Artist

On Aug. 19, the Geauga Arts Network Group (GANG) program will feature Liz Boch, a recent recipient of the Scholastic Art and Writing Gold Key Award in the drawing category. Boch will talk about her current work and aspirations as a fine artist as she prepares to head off to Ohio University in the fall.

The educational program, which is free and open to the general public, will take place from 6:30-8 p.m. at Heinen’s Cafe, 402 Center St. in Chardon. Host for the evening is painter Doby Green. No reservations are necessary.

Boch works in all media, but is particularly attracted to drawing in charcoal and graphite and experimentation with surface manipulation. Her work is distinguished by its integration of high concept themes with very detailed execution. She considers herself a feminist and will be sharing a cross-section of her work with the GANG.

In addition to receiving national recognition with the Scholastic award, Boch has received Best of Show awards from a variety of venues in Northeast Ohio and one of her works was selected out of more than 12,000 entries for the Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition.

The Geauga Arts Network Group is an ad hoc group whose mission is to promote communication, collaboration, and cooperation across artistic disciplines for artists living and/or working in Geauga County.
