GLTG Summer Workshops

Geauga Lyric Theater Guild will offer many opportunities for youth ages 4 through 18 during the 2014 summer workshops.

Junior workshops for youth ages 4-7 offer the chance to explore the stage with classic tales, “The Shoemaker and the “Elves” and “Thumbelina.” The elementary youth musical, “No Strings Attached,” and elementary drama, “Jungle Book,” workshops immerse kids 7-12 in the magic of theater.

Tweens, ages 11-14, will have the opportunity to be part of “The Neverending Story” and delve into a magical world told through a very curious book.

New this year is a change from a teen workshop to an auditioned teen production. Teens ages 13-18 will perform “Grease: School Version”

Registration opens April 5 at 8:30 a.m. in person at the Arts Center located at 106 Water St. across the street from the Geauga Theater. The line forms early and workshops fill quickly.

Dr. Seuss Celebration at GLTG

All fans of Dr. Seuss, beloved author and illustrator of such favorites as “Green Eggs and Ham,” “The Cat in the Hat” and “The Grinch,” are invited to a celebration March 1 from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Geauga Theater, 101 Water St. Chardon.

Presented by the Geauga Lyric Theater Guild, the family oriented event will feature a special Seuss Reader’s Theater and singing performance by the GLTG show choir The Geauga Gems directed by Karen Porter. There will also be Dr. Seuss related crafts, games and refreshments.

The community event is free, however donations are gratefully accepted at the door.
