Dr. Seuss Celebration Saturday

All fans of Dr. Seuss, beloved author and illustrator of such favorites as “Green Eggs and Ham,” “The Cat in the Hat” and “The Grinch,” are invited to a celebration March 1 from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Geauga Theater, 101 Water St. Chardon.

Presented by the Geauga Lyric Theater Guild, the family oriented event will feature a special Seuss Reader’s Theater and singing performance by the GLTG show choir, The Geauga Gems, directed by Karen Porter. There will also be Dr. Seuss related crafts, games and refreshments.

The community event is free, however donations are gratefully accepted at the door.

Westing Game Opens March 14

“The Westing Game” play, based on the Newbery award winning novel by Ellen Raskin, adapted by Darian Lindle and directed by Angela Miloro-Hansen, will open at the Geauga Theater on March 14. The murder mystery is filled with interesting characters, chaos and comedy that will keep theatergoers guessing until the end.

The unsuspecting residents of Sunset Towers are summoned to the reading of a mysterious will, only to find themselves locked in a thrilling game, as they must discover who is responsible for killing an eccentric millionaire. Through blizzards, bombings and unlikely alliances, the game begins. The only people who hold all the clues are one Westing heir and the audience.

Running March 14-30, Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. and Sunday performances are at 2 p.m. Marquee sponsor is Middlefield Bank.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for students and seniors, and a special price of $8 for children ages 10 and under.

Through support provided by Middlefield Bank, an opportunity for students to attend a special performance at a discounted rate is available. If one is a teacher, or leads a youth group, please call the business office at 440-285-7701 for more information.

Landscape Artist Reception

On March 8, from 5-7 p.m., Fairmount Center for the Arts will hold a reception for the stunning work of local artist Lisa Eastman with her exhibition, Lisa Eastman: Chagrin Valley Landscape Artist. Guests will enjoy hors d’ouevres, drinks, art and an artist talk, where Lisa will discuss her process, work and answer questions.

The exhibit will be on display through March 24. The reception and exhibition is free and open to the public.
