Breeders and Feeders 4-H Club held its end of year picnic at Munson Township Park on Sept. 15. Everyone enjoyed good food and no one should have gone home hungry.
After the potluck dinner, the results of the Carcass Class judging were revealed. Breeders and Feeders is happy to report that nine of the top 10 carcasses were from its club, with the winner of the 2013 Carcass Class judging being Noah McCaskey. Congratulations, Noah.
The clubs main fundraiser is the Huntsburg Pumpkin Festival, which will be held the first weekend in October. Please remember to sign up to work at least one shift during the festival. The club decided to participate in the parade once again with a float with Shane D., Chad D., and Katie P. volunteering to chair the float committee. Members were also reminded to bring bakery for the wagon along with prizes for the fish game.
Each advisor of the different species remarked that members did a wonderful job this year with their projects at fair and that everyone should be proud of the job done. The Pitorak Awards were then presented to Jared Z. for rabbits, Mike F. for poultry, Alexis S. for beef and Ryan I. for swine. Congratulations to all those winners on a great project year.
The club then presented its head advisor, Mrs. Teichman, with a card and gift to say thank you for her time and efforts with the club.
All the Breeders and Feeders members would like to thank the 2013 Junior Fair Livestock buyers for all their wonderful support this year.
Please remember to visit and support Breeders and Feeders at the Huntsburg Pumpkin Festival. There will be a wagon filled with baked goods and produce as well as the fish game for the younger visitors. (Submitted by Kelli Briggs, news reporter)
