Pancake Breakfasts Begin

Ash Wednesday is Feb. 18 and as the holy Lenten season begins, area pancake breakfasts will be available at the Chardon VFW, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and so many other restaurants around Chardon.

Fish fry dinners are a welcome treat for many of us as well. St. Mary’s in Chardon will begin serving its all-you-can-eat dinners on Feb. 20.

In addition, the Chardon Bob Evans Restaurant opened Jan. 26.

Birthday Wishes

My dear friend Clara Marie Shaner Rayl, of Chardon, will celebrate her 101st birthday on Feb. 7. Wish her well and bless her for the joy she has given to so many over the years.

I love her dearly as my “second” mom in Chardon. She has enriched my life greatly. God bless her birthday.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Joyce Rear and Dale Fellows. Congratulations to Dale for being named the Distinguished Citizen of the Year by the Willoughby Rotary Club. It is a well-deserved honor.

Comment For The Day

Chardon Kiwanis enjoyed cake and coffee and Heinen’s last week as members blew out candles to celebrate the 100th birthday of Kiwanis International. The club also welcomed new member Sandy Davis.

I will be passing out awards with Principal Garrett on Jan. 30 for the Terrific Kids Kiwanis program at Park Elementary School. It is a great event that Kiwanis enjoys sharing every month with our future leaders of America in grades K-5.

God bless everyone and keep warm. Pray for the safety of those hit by the heavy storms along the East Coast.
