Hambden Community Picnic
There will be two quilts to auction at this year’s picnic. Both have been made by fiscal officer Laura Chorman. The traditional quilt will be one that everyone can buy chances to win.
The other quilt is very special. It is a quilt made to honor Hambden veterans. Any Hambden veteran or active service man or woman from Hambden is invited to put his or her name in the free drawing. Both quilts are absolutely beautiful.
The picnic is Aug. 11 from 1-5 p.m. at the township park. There will be entertainment by Banjo the Clown and the band Terminal Blues will be playing a mix of classic contemporary rock and the blues in the bandstand.
There will be a Chinese auction, children’s games, a bakery walk, ice cream sundaes and prizes for children of all ages. The fire department will be selling hamburgers and hot dogs and there will be free popcorn and snow cones.
To donate an item for the Chinese auction, call Nadine at 440-286-3273 or drop it off at the township hall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.
Thanks in advance for everyone’s assistance in making this a great picnic.
The quarterly township newsletter will be in the mail by the end of the week. Some residents have called saying they haven’t been getting it. Please call the township hall at 440-286-4364 and let us know. We will be sure to get you on the mailing list.
I’ll know they should have arrived when I get mine, so I’ll let everyone know. Never can tell how long they’ll take to get to us, depends on if they get sent to Cleveland first and have to come back to Chardon. I hope they get delivered before the picnic because there is much information included.
If you have anything you would like to see put in this column, contact Nadine Pope at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I don’t hear from many of you and some weeks don’t have anything new to talk about. If anyone has an event or special birthday wish or have anything to let friends and neighbors know about, please let me know and I’ll spread the word.
