DARE Graduation
St. Helen School held DARE graduation on March 12 in its enrichment center. Deputy Roy Lundstrom, the DARE officer, led the culmination ceremony for Mrs. Darla Hollowell’s sixth-graders.
Guest speakers included Deputy Jim Dhayer and his K-9 Mimer and Deputy Jake Smith and his K-9 Spirit who demonstrated their advanced skills in locating hidden drugs and seeking suspects. University Hospital Geauga Regional nurse Paula Leonette gave the students some “words of wisdom” related to staying safe and thinking smart.
St. Helen students read their winning DARE essays beginning with Mason Mulacek and Hannah Taylor, who also featured her special DARE poem. Isabella Harton, Andrew Kolenic and Melanie Rakoczy were each runner-up essay contestants.
Sister Christin Alfieri, principal of St. Helen School, offered gratitude to Deputy Lundstrom and the Sherriff’s Department for the gift of their time and the far-reaching impact DARE has on St. Helen sixth-graders.
DARE graduates include sixth-graders: James Adamic, Kristen Aytay, Thaddeus Brennan, Isabelle Brent, Bradford Fram, Isabella Harton, Daniel Heredos, Jonathan Heredos, Kyle Hoffman, Andrew Kampe, Andrew Kolenic, Halley Ledbetter, Katherine Lee, Daniel Martin, Sidney McInnerney, Mason Mulacek, Maggie Murray, Joseph Pallante, Luke Peric, Melanie Rakoczy, John Ricci, Ashley Rullison, Hannah Taylor, Gabriel Williford, Zachary Wolfe and Zachary Yokules.
