Government
Trustee meetings are held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7 p.m. at the town hall. The next meeting is June 4.
All township meetings are open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend. Call 440-636-5486 for more information.
Community Center Open House
Huntsburg Elementary School has a new name, the Huntsburg Community Center. A section of the building has been renovated into a banquet center. The room will accommodate 160 to 180 guests.
A community open house will be held in the new banquet room on May 31 from 6-8 p.m. Snacks will be provided by donation from the 2005 Committee to Keep Zoning in Huntsburg Township Eric Tapager Treasurer, 13330 Clay St., Middlefield, OH 44062 and Chow Down Catering.
Zoning
Residents must obtain a zoning permit prior to making construction changes of any kind. Call the office at 440-636-5486, ext. 3 and leave him a message.
Zoning Inspector Erik Mirossay has resigned due to medical issues. Assistant Saunders will be able to assist with all the zoning issues.
The Board of Zoning Appeals will meet June 10 at 7 p.m. to approve minutes of the previous hearing. The Zoning Commission will meet June 17 at 7 p.m. to discuss proposed zoning changes.
Pumpkin Festival
Now is the time to think about growing that giant pumpkin. The 44th annual Pumpkin Festival will be held Oct. 5 and 6. For seeds and “How to Grow A Giant Pumpkin” instructions, please call Jerry at 440-636-5145.
Huntsburg maple syrup producers who would like to donate syrup for the pumpkin festival should call Nancy at 440-636-5197. We would love to show off all the fine syrup produced right here in Huntsburg.
Residents interested in joining the festival committee are asked to call 440-636-5197 for information on how to join.
Recycle
Bring all unwanted catalogs, phone books, newspapers, school and office papers, magazines, paperback books and junk mail to the recycle bin at Huntsburg Recreation Park.
Huntsburg is working hard to be environmentally friendly. The recycling bin is here for the whole community to use.
The township even earns money for the paper it collects. This way, residents can support the town and not have to reach into their pockets.
The recycling center will now accept cardboard.
Shredded paper is accepted in clear plastic bags. Please put a small hole in the bag to allow air to escape, but not the paper.
Thank you for recycling. Please keep the recycling center clean.
