A Plowing Reminder
Trustees hoped they would not have to keep reminding residents, but with all the snow accumulating this winter, please remember that when plowing the driveway, snow must remain on one’s property. It cannot be left in roadways or just pushed across the road. This is a hazard to the neighbors and can also make the mail carrier’s job more difficult.
Township Mailbox Policy
Many residents both living on township roads and state and county roads call the township hall when plowing results in their mailbox being knocked off or damaged. The township is only responsible for those mailboxes that are hit by plows on township roads and only if the plow directly hits the mailbox, not if it is damaged by flying snow.
The township will repair, if possible, or replace at a maximum cost of $35 any mailbox that its plows have hit. The plows make every effort not to come in contact with mailboxes, but sometimes, especially with snow like Hambden is experiencing this winter, it is unavoidable.
Grange Valentine Pancakes
Join friends and neighbors and help support Hambden Grange 2482 by attending its Valentine’s pancake breakfast Feb. 16 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Breakfast includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, corn fritters, fruit, sausage, juice, cocoa, coffee and real maple syrup.
The Grange is located at 9778 Old State Road. The cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under.
Park Board Opening
The park board is in need of a township resident who would be willing to help serve in the planning and decision making process for the future of the township park. If anyone is interested and would like more information, please call the township office at 440-286-4364.
