Newsletters On Their Way

The winter edition of the Hambden Highlights is in the mail. Trustees hope residents will find the information interesting and informative.

Many Hambden businesses are mentioned, but I know some have been missed. If a business was overlooked, please give trustees a call so they can give residents more information in the next issue.

One very important request in the newsletter is for help for the community picnic held in August. It nearly ended two years ago, but trustees just could not let it go. It has meant so much to so many residents over the years.

Help is needed in pulling it all together. It will not take a bunch of time. Give Nadine Pope at call at 440-286-3273 or call the township hall at 440-286-4364 to help out this year.

Park Board Opening

The park board is still in need of a township resident who would be willing to help serve in the planning and decision making process for the future of the township park.

To date, no one has come forward and even asked questions about the position. The township cannot do this without the community’s help.

If anyone is interested and would like more information, please call the township office at 440-286-4364.

Township Mailbox Policy

Many residents both living on township roads and state and county roads call the township hall when plowing results in their mailbox being knocked off or damaged. The township is only responsible for those mailboxes that are hit by plows on township roads and only if the plow directly hits the mailbox, not if it is damaged by flying snow.

The township will repair, if possible, or replace at a maximum cost of $35 any mailbox that its plows have hit. The plows make every effort not to come in contact with mailboxes, but sometimes, especially with snow like Hambden is experiencing this winter, it is unavoidable.
