Happy, Blessed 4th of July
Old Glory Days will take place on Chardon Square July 4, the 237th birthday of our great Republic, the United States of America, land of the free because of the brave. God bless our Founding Fathers who had the gift of wisdom to lay out the plans for the greatest Constitution ever written; a document that is revered as much today as it was when it was penned over 200 years ago.
Enjoy picnics, parties and formal gatherings to salute our stars and stripes and to remember the meaning of this very special birthday celebration. See you on the Square for the parade, the live music performance by DJ Los who will perform a variety of music beginning at 1 p.m., delicious treats and so much more.

Happy Birthday Wishes
Mary Stamp introduced me to her grandson George Stamp III who turned 18 on June 22. He lives in Tampa and was here visiting family.
Mariel Rouru also tells me that her daughter Lori had a birthday on June 24. Lori lives in Minnesota.
Best wishes also go out to my friend Kristen Noyes who celebrates a special birthday on July 5. I know her mom Paula is proud of all of her accomplishments and I consider Kristen a great friend, just like her mom.
Musical Mother/Daughter Duo
My friends Marian Meyer and her daughter Helen Hendrickson, aka the Hat Ladies, entertain all of Chardon and beyond with fun programs of happy music, silly songs and old favorites. Check them out on YouTube at “Just for the fun of it of Chardon, Ohio.”
Chardon Area Kiwanis
Chardon Kiwanis volunteers will be on Chardon Square to set up the balloons for Old Glory Days on July 4 beginning at 10 a.m. The group will also be in attendance to greet the people attending the Chardon Concerts in the Park series that will feature the 730 Club on June 28 from 7-9 p.m.
Don’t forget the farmer’s market on Short Court Street that provides crepes, coffee, burgers, ice cream, fresh flowers, delicious home-grown vegetables, pastries, homemade soaps, lemonade, roasted nuts, kettle corn and so much more. Check out the popcorn and soda next to the Log Cabin as well.
Kiwanis will host Spouse’s Night at Big Creek Park beginning at 6:30 p.m. on July 11. At that time the scholarships to high school students will be formally presented to the well-deserved recipients and their parents.
Comment For the Day
Time is flying by quickly as Chardonites enjoy unseasonably warm 90-degree weather during the first full week of summer. I hope you got a chance to see the Super Moon over the weekend.
Happy Fourth of July to everyone. Check out the patriotic schedules and enjoy this very special celebratory day. Proudly wear red, white and blue and carry an American Flag as well.
The Heritage Foundation wishes everyone would download the U.S. Constitution and read it aloud on July 4. Readers may learn something they never knew before that will enlighten them and make them proud to be American.
