American Red Cross blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Donors may give every 56 days and must bring some form of photo identification and a list of all current medications.
The Northern Ohio Blood Services Region currently has an urgent need for blood donors. All types are needed, specifically Type O Negative.

Flu Shots
Lake Health is offering seasonal flu shots for $20 at the following locations:
Chardon Campus, 510 Fifth Ave., Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Clinic at Middlefield, located inside Wal-Mart Supercenter, 15050 Springdale Ave., Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m.
No appointment is necessary. Individuals must be 18 years of age or older to receive the seasonal flu vaccine at our centers. The influenza vaccination is covered by Medicare.

Blood Pressure Screenings
Lake Health will offer free blood pressure checks at the Chardon Campus, 510 Fifth Ave., from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
Flu Shots Available
The Geauga County Health District has announced its adult flu clinics.
Flu shots will be available every Friday during the season from 8:30-11 a.m. at 470 Center St., Building 8, Chardon.
Geauga County Health District will bill most Medicare and employee health insurance plans for the flu shot. The flu vaccinations cost $30 or $40 for high dose vaccine if they are paid for in cash. Most insurance plans accepted; bring insurance card for insurance billing. Pregnant women must have a signed order from their obstetrician.

Geauga WIC Program
The Geauga WIC Program is a nutrition education program for pregnant women and women who just had a baby, breastfeeding moms, infants and children up to age 5 years. WIC provides nutritious foods, breastfeeding support and low cost infant car seats to those who are income eligible.

2014 Immunization Clinics
The Geauga County General Health District offers walk-in immunization clinics for children and adolescents through the age of 18. Due to federal legislation, vaccines can no longer be offered free to anyone that has health insurance coverage, including Medicaid. Residents must present an immunization record as well as a current insurance card.

Middlefield, Feb. 20, St. Lucy Mission, 16280 Kinsman Road, 3-6 p.m.
Troy, Feb. 26, Troy Community Center, 13950 Main Market Road, 9-11:30 a.m.

Peaceful Parenting
The Ohio State University Extension in Geauga County offers parenting classes to address every day dilemmas and strategies for peacefully raising children.
Peaceful Parenting, a three-part class for parents of children 0-17 years of age, will be presented by Terri Worthington, family life educator for Ohio State University Extension, Feb. 25 and March 4 and 11 from 6-8:30 p.m. at the OSU office in Chardon, 470 Center St., Building 6-B.
Prepaid cost is $30 per person to cover materials, or $35 at the door.
