Flu Shots

Lake Health is offering seasonal flu shots for $20 at the following locations:

Chardon Campus, 510 Fifth Ave., Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Clinic at Middlefield, located inside Wal-Mart Supercenter, 15050 Springdale Ave., Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m.

No appointment is necessary. Individuals must be 18 years of age or older to receive the seasonal flu vaccine at our centers. The influenza vaccination is covered by Medicare.

Blood Pressure Screenings

Lake Health will offer free blood pressure checks at the Chardon Campus, 510 Fifth Ave., from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

Geauga WIC Program

The Geauga WIC Program is a nutrition education program for pregnant women and women who just had a baby, breastfeeding moms, infants and children up to age 5 years. WIC provides nutritious foods, breastfeeding support and low cost infant car seats to those who are income eligible.

2014 Immunization Clinics

The Geauga County General Health District offers walk-in immunization clinics for children and adolescents through the age of 18. Due to federal legislation, vaccines can no longer be offered free to anyone who has health insurance coverage, including Medicaid. Residents must present an immunization record as well as a current insurance card.

Bloodmobile

American Red Cross blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Donors may give every 56 days and must bring some form of photo identification and a list of all current medications.

The Northern Ohio Blood Services Region currently has an urgent need for blood donors. All types are needed, specifically Type O Negative.

Help for Mental Illness

Geauga County National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) offers support, education and advocacy for those affected by mental illness.

A family and friends support meeting for those who have a loved one affected by a mental illness will be held at 7 p.m. March 13 at the Geauga West Public Library, 13455 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township. No registration is needed; meetings are free.

Family-to-Family is a free educational course for family members, friends and caregivers of individuals living with mental illness.

The class will meet on Saturdays, beginning April 5, from 1 to 3:30 p.m., for 12 weeks at the Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services, 13244 Ravenna Road in Chardon.

Family First Council

Geauga Family First Council will meet at 2:30 p.m. March 17 at Geauga County Job & Family Services building, 12480 Ravenna Road, Chardon.

Meetings take place on the third Monday of the month (except legal holidays) with the location alternating between the Geauga County Job & Family Services and the Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services building. Meetings are open to the public.
