The Munson Township Trustees recently appointed Sandy Schultz to the zoning commission for a five-year term. Ms. Schultz replaces Ron Atkinson who retired after serving 16 years. Members of the zoning commission, board of zoning appeals and the park and recreation board serve voluntarily, without compensation.
Thanks go to all members of the various boards for their dedication and continuing service to the township.
Teaching Funds, Scholarships
The Geauga County Master Gardeners are offering a teaching fund to people of all ages in Geauga County or any non-profit organization that teaches children or adults about horticulture. There is no deadline for application.
The Geauga County Master Gardeners Volunteers are offering scholarships to Geauga County residents who are 2014 high school graduates or current students at Ohio State University pursuing an education in horticulture, agriculture, environmental science or related fields. Deadline for applications is April 25.

With the Genealogical Society
“The Underground Railroad” is the next program presented by the Geauga County Genealogical Society (GCGS) at 7 p.m. March 11 in the Bostwick Room of the Chardon Public Library. Local historian Sylvia Wiggins will combine quilt symbols used in the Underground Railroad to relate Northeastern Ohio stories.
Meetings of the GCGS are free and open to the public. For more information, call the library, 440-285-7601.
Morning Star Friends Church, 12550 Ravenna Road, Munson, offers a Christian 12-step addiction recovery program every Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the church. The next meeting will be held March 12, starting with fellowship and a meal served at 6:15 p.m.

Senior Police Academy
Senior Citizens Police Academy, a program offered by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Department and the Geauga Department on Aging, will be held Mondays, April 7, 14, 21 and 28, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office, 12540 Merritt Road, Munson.
The cost per person for the four-week course is $15, which includes a Police Academy T-shirt.
Deadline for reservations is March 21. Mail or bring a check (including T-shirt size) to the Geauga Department on Aging, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Munson, OH 44024.
