At the Senior Center
Tax assistance is available to seniors 60 years of age and older at the Multi-Purpose Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Munson. The Department on Aging is offering this service from Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) by appointment only almost every weekday through April 11, 2014. Two forms of identification are needed along with other documents.

Geauga Co. Fair Band
The Geauga County Fair Band is ready to begin weekly rehearsals for its 76th season on March 25, from 7:30-9:30 p.m., in the band room at Berkshire High School. Interested musicians, ages 15 and over, are encouraged to attend.
The first of many events for the band in 2014 is the Geauga County Maple Festival Parade April 26 and 27 in Chardon.

The 17 applicants for this year’s Munson Township scholarships are Samantha Baierl, Chris Baldwin, Jaclyn Breier, Jillian Cressman, Megan Demshar, Michael Garlak, Katarina Goodge, Chase Halter, Selena Haverlock, Courtney Kamm, Jillian Kolencik, Quinn McHale, Alexandra Monaco, Juliana Myers, Alyssa Patriarca, Danielle Scerbo and Zachary Shipley.
All are winners of $500 each with funds for 10 derived from proceeds from the township’s annual Community Day and funds for seven donated by a generous Munson resident who wishes to remain anonymous.
Congratulations to each of these fine young students and best wishes for continued success as they continue their education in their selected college or university.
Amateur Radio Assoc.
The Geauga Amateur Radio Association (GARA) will meet at 7:30 p.m. March 24 at the Geauga County Emergency Operations Center, 12518 Merritt Road, Munson. Meetings are open to all who are licensed “hams” and those who are interested in becoming familiar with this type of international talk radio.

Fowlers Mill Road Bridge
A special meeting arranged by the Munson Board of Trustees regarding the reconstruction of the bridge on Fowlers Mill Road between Mayfield and Sherman roads will be held at 6:30 p.m. March 26 at the township hall. Fowlers Mill Road residents are encouraged to attend this special meeting with the Geauga County Engineer Joe Cattel to discuss the pros and cons of the current plan for reconstruction.

NAMI Geauga County
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Geauga County will hold an educational speaker event at 6:30 p.m. March 27 at the Geauga Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services, 13244 Ravenna Road, Munson. Guest speakers will be Dr. James Rodio and Deanna Brant of the Forensic Psychiatry and Geauga County’s Jail Treatment Program.
The meeting is free and open to all seeking information and guidance on dealing with mental illness. Refreshments served.
