Township Meetings

GPD Summer Camps

The Geauga Park District is now accepting registrations for summer camps offering single-day and weeklong adventure camps for youths in grades 5-7 and teens entering grades 9-10. Space is limited. For camp schedules and information, or to register, call 440-286-9516.

Students Raise Funds

The third-grade class of Munson Elementary School donated a check for $1,177 to Marilyn’s Voice, a local organization that rescues, rehabilitates and finds loving homes for severely neglected and abused dogs from commercial kennels, puppy mills and other inhumane situations.

The students raised the funds by creating and selling pet toys as part of their economic unit. Thank you to all students who participated in this humanitarian effort.

Tri-County Coin Club

The Tri-County Coin Club will meet at 6:45 p.m. April 10 at St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road in Munson. Following a short business meeting, there will be a 50-plus-lot coin auction, door prizes, coin display and more.

The monthly meetings are free and open to all ages of coin collectors. For information, call 440-564-7142.

At the Rookery

A Geauga Park District naturalist will lead an off-trail hike into the rock ledges, streams and ravines of the protected part of the GPD’s Rookery, on Cedar and Rockhaven roads in Munson, April 13 from 1-4 p.m. This is rugged terrain and participants are advised to dress for the weather and wear boots with good traction. Reservations requested at 440-286-9516.

At the Senior Center

Sgt. Ty Pannell II, of the VITAS Veteran Liaison, will be at the Chardon Senior Center on April 8 at 12:30 p.m. to help veterans find what benefits are available to them and their dependents. Also at the Chardon Senior Center, Bob Debevits and guest Vince Klave, of Ace Electric, will speak on home safety and the “shocking truth about electricity.”

Registration is not necessary.

Easter Egg Hunt

Munson Township’s annual Easter egg hunt will be held rain, snow, sleet or shine on April 19 at Munson Park located on Bass Lake Road. The Easter Bunny will arrive at 10 a.m. and the hunt will start at 10:30 a.m. There will be two age groups, 2-5 years and 6-9 years. Collections will be turned in for goodies.

Park & Rec Board Opening

Munson Township is seeking a resident interested in serving voluntarily on the Park & Recreation Board, which meets monthly.

Letters of intent with resume can be mailed to the Munson Township Trustees, 12210 Auburn Road, Chardon, OH 44024. Letters may also be dropped off at the office, weekdays, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
