Congratulations go to Jacob Nicholas Rosboril, second-base player on the Ohio Special Olympics Softball Team that won the gold medal in the June 14-21 National Special Olympics baseball competition against the host New Jersey team.
Baseball teams from all 50 states competed in the weeklong games in New Jersey. Each member of the Ohio team was awarded a gold medal
Jacob’s parents, Joseph and Yvonne Rosboril of Munson, attended the entire competition and accompanied Joseph at the presentation of the gold medal. The Munson Board of Trustees issued a special commendation to Jacob, which will remain in the township’s permanent records.

Eagle Scout Achievement
Congratulations go to Brian Depner, member of Munson Township’s Boy Scout Troop 91, on his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Scouting. Brian’s Eagle Scout project was building and installing 16 bluebird houses at Munson Township’s Nero Nature Preserve.
The Munson Board of Trustees honored Brian with a resolution commending his achievement, which will remain in the township’s permanent records. Brian’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor will be held at the township hall on July 19.

The Munson Board of Trustees has appointed Carlye Burwell to serve on the township’s zoning commission. Carlye replaces Heather Crawford who served as vice-chair of the zoning commission for two years and prior on the board of zoning appeals. Carlye fulfills Heather’s unexpired term to 2016. Welcome aboard, Carlye.
With the Arts
Meet photography artist Joshua Clark at the opening of the exhibit of his work, “Moments in Nature,” July 18 from 5-7 p.m. at the Geauga Park District’s West Woods Nature Center. Joshua’s photographic collection consists of nature, avian and wildlife.

2014 Summer Camps
Geauga Park District is still accepting registrations for its 2014 summer camps. The next sessions for the Adventure Day Camp for youths entering grades 5-7 will be the weeks of July 28 and Aug. 4. The last session for Adventure Week for youths entering eighth through 10th-grades will be the week of Aug. 4.

Also at the Chardon Senior Center, University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center will present a program on sleep disorders, “Celebrate Life, Past & Future,” at 11 a.m. July 22. Sleep screenings will be conducted.

Community Day Picnic
Munson Township will hold its annual Community Day Picnic Aug. 2, rain or shine, from 12-5 p.m. at the township’s park on Bass Lake Road. The event includes a free picnic meal served from 12-3 p.m.; Euclid Beach rocket-car rides from 1-4 p.m.; UHHS MedEvac Helicopter arrival at 1:10 p.m.; magician Rick Smith at 2:15 p.m.; 50/50 raffle at 3:45 p.m.; and the raffle, auction and grand prize awards from 4-5 p.m. The grand prize of $500 has been donated by Payne & Payne Builders, based in Munson.
It will be a free, fun-filled event for the entire family.
