Help for Drug Addiction
People experiencing drug addiction or families with an addicted loved one are encouraged to call the Geauga County COPE line at 440-285-5665 or 1-888-285-5665. COPE line is provided by the Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services and United Way of Geauga County.
Treatment and counseling services are available at the Ravenwood Mental Health Center, 12557 Ravenwood Drive, Munson. The phone number is 440-285-3568.
Munson Twp. Cemeteries
All artificial flowers, decorations and containers in Munson’s Maple Hill and Fowlers Mill cemeteries must be removed by May 1 or they will be disposed of due to preparation for Memorial Day and mowing.
Please be advised that iron plant hooks are no longer permitted in the cemeteries at any time. Call the township office at 440-286-9255 with any questions.
Nature Style Egg Hunt
The Geauga Park District invites families to a rhyming scavenger egg-hunt at the West Woods Nature Center on April 12, from 1-4 p.m. “Egg-cellent” facts will be discovered with scavenger hunt cards to be turned in for fun prizes.

At the Senior Center
A naturalist from the Geauga Park District will present a program on Geauga’s amazing aquatic mammals at 12:45 p.m. April 15 at the Chardon Senior Center, 12455 Ravenwood Drive Munson. Photos, sounds and other hands-on artifacts and activities will be used to make this presentation interesting and fun. Registration is not necessary.
The Chardon Senior Center will be closed April 25 for the Loretta Holmes Maple Celebration. For information on this event, call 440-279-2130.
Food Addicts in Recovery
Food Addicts in Recovery (FAIR) will meet April 16, from 6:30-8 p.m., at St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road, Munson. FAIR offers support, nutrition information and encouragement to those who are seeking to lose weight and remain healthy.
The meetings are free. Registration is not necessary.

Annual Canine Fundraiser
Totally Dogs 4-H Club and Geauga County Recorder Sharon Gingerich will host a dinner and silent auction to benefit the Geauga County Dog Shelter and the Geauga County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit on May 2 from 6-9 p.m. at Chardon United Methodist Church, 515 North St.
Tickets by advance sale only are $20 for a chicken dinner or $25 for salmon.

College Grants Offered
The Geauga County Retired Teachers Association is offering two $1,500 grants to deserving Geauga County high school graduates who are currently college students enrolled in a college of education and will be student teaching during the 2014-15 school year.
