The Newbury Thespians performed “Fiddler on the Roof Jr.” on March 7 and 8. The performers and stage crew did an outstanding job as the audience enjoyed their performance.

Congratulations go out to all participants for all the hard work they have done under the drama director, Mr. Pat Cataldo.

Junior Class Talent Show

The Newbury junior class will host its ninth annual talent show on March 28 at 7 p.m. in the Newbury auditorium. Admission is $5.

Come on out and watch the students “Rock the Knights.”

Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten registration is March 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. in the elementary office located in the grades 4-6 building. Parents may turn in their registration paperwork.

Newbury Academic Team

Congratulations to the Academic Team for its first place finish at the Conneaut Small School Invitational on March 12. The team of Maggie Kinkopf, Zac Grubbs, Zac Plesmid and Mak Sanders won a four question tiebreaker in the early rounds placing them as the number one seed from their bracket in the playoffs.

To win the tournament, they needed to beat Grand Valley twice due to an earlier loss. In the first final facing elimination, Newbury was down by 35 points with two questions to go, but came from behind to force a second match.

The Black Knights convincingly defeated the Mustangs in the second final to secure the school’s first tournament championship since its inception in 2006. Individual tournament accolades go out to Zac Plesmid (All-Tournament First Team), Mak Sanders and Kevin Piczer (All-Tournament Second Team).

The victory qualifies Newbury for the Small School National Championship in Minneapolis. Way to go, Black Knights.
