Nature Notes

Saturdays this summer and early fall have yet to host six more musical acts in Big Creek Park’s charming amphitheater.

Still on tap are Hootenanny Sing-along (folk music sing-along) on June 28; Up River (celtic, bluegrass and folk) on July 12; Paul Borger & The Blues Forgers (traditional trio blues) with acoustic opening act Paul “Blue Pike” Pira on July 26; Erie Heights Brass Ensemble on Aug. 9; Quad Pro Quo & Mo’ (barbershop quartet) on Aug. 23; and Top Dog (party and dance rock) on Sept. 6.

What’s a hootenanny? It’s an informal concert at which folk singers and instrumentalists perform for their own enjoyment, often with audience participation.

All shows are 7-8:30 p.m. in the Frances S. Hall Amphitheater located behind the park’s Meyer Center at 9160 Robinson Road in Chardon Township.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket, or just sit on the leveled seating. Refreshments will be served. Inclement weather simply moves the shows indoors.
