Meditation for Relaxation: Jan. 24, 12:15-12:45 p.m. Yoga instructor Anne Ondrey will share some basic techniques for quieting the mind and finding inner peace.

South Newbury Union Chapel: Jan. 29, 12:30 p.m. Mike Fath will discuss how an unassuming little 24×36-foot wooden building in South Newbury deserve to receive both an Ohio Historic marker and a national Historic Register plaque. Hell describe the many important mid to late 19th century historic happenings that took place there with regards to topics such as womens rights, the temperance movement, the abolitionist movement and many other hot topics of the day.

Geauga Parks: Jan. 29, 10:30 a.m. Scat, tracks and mammal facts.

West Geauga Senior Center, 11414 Caves Road, Chester, 440-729-2782.

Heart/Stroke/Coumadin Support Group: Jan. 29, 11 a.m. Sponsored by the UH Stroke Institute, the support group is facilitated by nurse Nina Choski. Rachel Hutchinson from the Coumadin Clinic will be the guest speaker.

Memory Screenings: Jan. 29. University Hospitals Geauga medical staff will provide memory screenings.

Library Program: Jan. 30, 11 a.m. Sarah Prueter will talk about Play Aways and book reviews. The group will share some favorite books, which may lead to some book discussions.

Chinese New Year: Jan. 31. In 2014, the center will hold a program on a different heritage every month. In January, the group will learn about the Chinese New Year and enjoy a lunch from Yangtzee.

History of Chinese New Year: Jan. 27. Ms. Lydia Zhang, with Asian Services In Action, will be the presenter. She moved here from China two years ago. Registration is requested. Donations are appreciated.

Winter Safety: Jan. 29, 11 a.m. Senior Independence will present the free program.

Emergency Planning: Jan. 23, 12:15 p.m. The Geauga County Board Of Mental Health and Recovery Services will present tips to help plan for an emergency and how developing a plan can relieve anxiety.
