Newbury’s Exemplary Students
Auburn Career Center nominated Newbury Senior High School students for the Exemplary Student Award for being outstanding student role models and for consistently demonstrating the core values, believing that: People are personally responsible for their choices and actions; treating people with dignity and respect will enhance learning; attitude and goals drive achievement; all people can learn; all people can make a positive contribution; and change is exciting and essential for growth.
The following students earned Auburn’s Exemplary Student Award: Chris Eaton, Kyle Smith and Jacob Schneider.
Congratulations and thank you for representing Newbury.
Artwork On Display
Newbury students have artwork on display at the Middlefield Historical Society Art Exhibition located at 14979 South State Ave.
The artwork will be on display April 13-14 and 20-21 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the caboose on property, located just behind Pizza Hut. Artwork display will be inside the cement block looking portion of the building, right next to the parking lot.
National Kick Butts Day
National Kick Butts Day was celebrated March 20 by the third-graders at Newbury Elementary. The students created posters with anti-smoking themes. The poster project was done in conjunction with the high school Teen Institute groups from three Geauga County school districts.
Thanks go to Janis McLaughlin, prevention specialist of Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers, Inc., and Mrs. Bernadette Stefancin, third-grade social studies teacher, for promoting this concern for the students of the school and county.
