Township Meetings

Help for Drug Addiction

Started as a pilot program last spring, the Family Life Intervention Program helps assist drug-addicted Geauga County parents achieve a healthy life-style while their children are in protective custody.

People with drug addictions or families with an addicted loved one can find treatment and counseling by calling Lake-Geauga Recovery Center, 209 Center St. in Chardon, at 440-285-9119 or 440-942-6722 or the Ravenwood Mental Health Center, 12557 Raven-wood Drive, Munson, at 440-285-3568.

Family Fun Night

The historic Mayfield Drive-In Theatre, 12100 Mayfield Road in Munson, offers a family fun night with prizes, entertainment and live music on the stage followed by two first-run movies, “Planes: Fire & Rescue” and “Guardians of the Galaxy” Aug. 1.

Box office opens 7 p.m. with a family price of $15 per car.

90 and Over Birthday Party

A free royal birthday celebration for Geauga County seniors 90 years old and older will be held Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Notre Dame Provincial Center, 13000 Auburn Road in Munson.

Cost for those who have not reached the great age of 90 is $15. Reservations and information are available by calling 440-279-2137.

GLTG Board Officers Needed

Geauga Lyric Theater Guild is seeking nominations for two officer vacancies, secretary and treasurer, for a two-year term. Interested applicants are asked to send a letter of intent along with membership application (if not currently a member) to GLTG, P.O. Athletic Hall of Fame at NDCL

The induction ceremony for the Athletic Hall of Fame at Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin will be held Sept. 6, beginning with a social hour at 1 p.m. This event marks the 55th annual Cathedral Latin Athletic Hall of Fame and the 12th annual Notre Dame Academy/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Athletic Hall of Fame.

Food Addicts in Recovery

The next meeting of Food Addicts in Recovery (FAIR) will be held Aug. 6 from 6:30-8 p.m. at St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road in Munson. FAIR offers support, nutrition information and encouragement to those who are making an effort to lose weight and remain healthy.

The free meetings are open to all and preregistration is not necessary. For more information, call 330-819-5028.


Munson’s annual Community Day Picnic takes place Aug. 2, rain or shine, from noon to 5 p.m. at Munson Park on Bass Lake Road.

The free event offers fun for the entire family starting with a free picnic lunch, entertainment, raffle, auction, UHHS MedEvac helicopter arrival and a $500 grand prize award donated by Payne & Payne Builders based in Munson Township.

Proceeds benefit the Munson Township Scholarship Fund.
