Township Meetings

At Munson Township Hall: Nov. 26, Board of Trustees, 6:30 p.m.; Dec. 10, Board of Trustees, 6:30 p.m.; Dec. 10, Park & Recreation Board, 6:30 p.m.; Dec. 16, Zoning Commission, 6:30 p.m.; Dec. 19, Board of Zoning Appeals, 6:30 p.m.

All township offices closed Nov. 28 in observance of Thanksgiving Day.

December meeting dates are tentative and subject to change due to the coming holidays.

Organization Meetings

Munson Township Scholarships

Munson Township high school students, who will be graduating in June 2014, are eligible to apply for the Munson Township scholarships to be awarded next spring. Applicants must be residents of the township, have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.0, at least a 22 ACT or 1000 SAT score (does not apply to career or technical education applicants) and plan to attend an accredited two- to four-year college or university, or a career or technical education institution, in the fall of 2014.

Applications must be received no later than Jan. 13, 2013. They are available at area high schools, the township hall or online at

Completed applications can be mailed to Munson Township Scholarship Committee, 12210 Auburn Road, Chardon, OH 44024, or brought to the township office, weekdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Geauga Amateur Radio Assoc.

The Geauga Amateur Radio Association (GARA) will hold its next meeting at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 26 at the Geauga County Emergency Operations Center, 12518 Merritt Road, Munson. The meeting is free and open to all interested in the fun of contacting people worldwide via radio.

At the Senior Center

Volunteers are needed to deliver holiday meals to senior Geauga County residents who will be home alone on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, and/or Christmas Day, Dec. 25. Volunteers will pick up a holiday meal at 11:15 a.m., one per route, at the Multi-Purpose Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Munson.

If one is a senior resident who will be home and alone or if one can help with deliveries, call the Chardon Senior Center at 440-279-2130.

Fowler’s Mill Store Open House

All are invited to sample specialty foods Nov. 29 through Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Fowler’s Mill Store, 12500 Fowler’s Mill Road, Munson. Holiday gifts can also be ordered. The historic mill is located in the Fowler’s Mill Historical District.

Free Sunday Dinner

A free homemade meal will be served Dec. 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Fellowship Room of St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road, Munson. There will be a choice of soups, breads and desserts.

Donations are not necessary, but appreciated. To help prepare the meal, serve the dinner, or for more information, call 440-285-4641.

Shutterbugs Camera Club

The Shutterbugs Camera Club will hold its annual potluck holiday gathering Dec. 5, from 7-9 p.m., at the Geauga Park District’s West Woods Nature Center in Russell Township. Pack a potluck basket and bring two favorite photos to share.

The monthly meetings are free and open to all interested in the artistry of photography.

Good Tidings Benefit Choir

The Good Tidings Benefit Choir will hold its annual free holiday concerts Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. at the Sisters of Notre Dame Provincial Chapel, 13100 Auburn Road, Munson. The popular concerts are free, but donations are appreciated.

Proceeds benefit the Geauga Hunger Task Force.

Thanksgiving Day

As we give thanks on Nov. 28 for the beautiful country in which we live, let us not forget to thank those who have served through the years to maintain our freedoms and liberties.

Fly the beautiful flag of the United States and say a silent prayer for those who continue to serve in harm’s way.
