Track and Field Day
Newbury Elementary students enjoyed the beautiful weather during their track and field day on May 29. Thanks to Mrs. Kristen VanderMaas, PTO volunteers and junior high honor student volunteers, 10 stations were set up and classes rotated among them.
After the sun came out, the slip and slide was a very popular station. Other activities included an obstacle course, sack race, sponge tag and taking marbles out of the swimming pool with one’s toes. A wonderful time was had by all.
3rd-Grade Community Field Trip
Recently, third graders visited places important to the community of Newbury. The students learned all about entrepreneurship at the Buckeye Chocolate Shop. They also visited the cemetery and town hall, and had their sack lunches at the Punderson State Park, a tourist spot for many Ohioans and people from out of state.
Ask the third-graders which part of the day they enjoyed the most and what they learned during the day.
Thanks go to Mrs. Bernadette Stefancin and Mrs. Sarah Gabriel for organizing this trip, which connects well to the social studies curriculum.
