Bluegrass Jamboree
A bluegrass jamboree will be held at Hambden Grange Hall, corner of routes 6 and 608, from 7-11 p.m. Jan. 26.
Evening will feature Vertical Limit, Mountain Harmony and Limited Edition.

Chicken and Dumpling Dinner
The American Legion, Geauga County Council is having a benefit chicken and dumpling dinner for Geauga County veterans in need on Jan. 19, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at Burton American Legion Post 459. Donation is $15 at the door or $12 in advance. Children 12 and under are $8 at the door.

BHS Spaghetti Dinner, Auction
There will be a spaghetti dinner and Chinese auction to benefit the Berkshire High School Marching Band Jan. 25 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
Pre-sale tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Tickets are an additional dollar at the door.
The drawing for the Chinese auction will be at 7:30 p.m.
Ethnic Dinner Canceled

Low Cost Spay/Neuter
Rescue Village and PetFix Northeast Ohio have teamed up to help stop pet overpopulation by offering low cost spay/neuter for cats and dogs to low income families and individuals. One does not have to live in Geauga County to qualify.
A clinic will take place Jan. 23 at Rescue Village, 15463 Chillicothe Road in Russell Township. Fees vary by animal�s gender and weight, but range is from $30 to $70.

Munson Indoor Flea Market
Munson Township will hold an indoor flea market Feb. 16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Munson Town Hall and Fire Station Bay, 12210 Auburn Road. Spaces are available for rent.

Volunteer Tutors Needed
Geauga County Job and Family Services is seeking caring, motivated adults to volunteer a few hours a week tutoring local elementary school students in basic reading and math.
Volunteers will be required to attend training and undergo a complete a criminal background check.

Night At The Races
The Chesterland Chamber of Commerce fifth annual Night at the Races is scheduled for Feb. 23 at Spectators in Chesterland. Mark Nolan, Magic 105 radio host, will emcee the event.
Proceeds benefit Andrews Spirit of Hope (ASH), a non-profit established to provide healthy, nutritious meals to malnourished area children.
Preferred seating is $40 each and general admission tickets are $30. Ticket price includes hot appetizers buffet and two beverage tickets. Donations and sponsorships are welcome.

WILD About Bats Workshop
Wild About BATS, an Advanced Project WILD workshop, will be held Feb. 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Brandywine Center in Dover, Ohio. Researchers and education professionals will share bat biology, survey techniques, education activities and threats to bat populations through formal presentations and hands-on opportunities. The workshop is free.

Keeper Of The Cane
The Chesterland Historical Foundation is searching for the 2013 "Keeper of The Cane." Over the last 85 years, there have been 21 "keepers" for this distinguished award.
Nominations must be submitted with full consent of the person nominated. Nominee must be 85 years or order and must also be a 25-year continuous resident of Chester Township at the time of nomination.

Pancakes at Hambden Grange
Hambden Grange 2482 is serving an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast with maple syrup, corn fritters, sausage, juice, cocoa and coffee on Jan. 20, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under.
The Grange is located at 9778 Old State Road in Chardon.
GCRTA Luncheon
The Geauga County Retired Teachers Association will meet on Feb. 5 for a luncheon and meeting at the Bond Building in Century Village, 14653 East Park St. Burton.
Social time is at 11:15 a.m., followed by the business meeting at 11:30 a.m. and lunch at noon. The menu will consist of a chili bar.
The program will be "The Underground Railroad" presented by Sylvia Wiggins.
