A Night at the Races

Cardinal S.A.F.E After-Prom presents"A Night at the Races" Jan. 12 at Parkman Community House, 16295 Main Market. Doors open 6:30 p.m., with post time at 8 p.m.

Tickets cost $20 per person and include dinner and beverages. Own a horse for $15; If the horse wins, the owner wins.

Event features side boards, raffles, door prizes and more. Guests must be 21 to enter.

GEL Breakfast Jan. 4

Geauga County Commissioner Tracy Jemison will present the State of the County at the next Geauga Economic Leadership (GEL) breakfast Jan. 4 at 8 a.m. at the Burton campus of Kent State University, 14111 Claridon Troy Road.

Munson Indoor Flea Market

Munson Township will hold an indoor flea market Feb. 16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Munson Town Hall and Fire Station Bay, 12210 Auburn Road. Spaces are available for rent.

Replenish Food Cupboards

The youth of First Congregational Church are collecting nonperishable items to build a food sculpture in January. The items will then be donated to the food cupboards at Burton Congregational Church and New Testament Baptist Church.

Nonperishable items may be dropped off during community dinners on Jan. 15, from 5-6:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 13942 Mayfield Road, as well as on Sunday mornings.

Low Cost Spay/Neuter

Rescue Village and PetFix Northeast Ohio have teamed up to help stop pet overpopulation by offering low cost spay/neuter for cats and dogs to low income families and individuals. One does not have to live in Geauga County to qualify.

A clinic will take place Jan. 23 at Rescue Village, 15463 Chillicothe Road in Russell Township. Fees vary by animal�s gender and weight, but range is from $30 to $70.

Atwood-Mauck American Legion Post 459 is holding a pancake and sausage breakfast Jan. 13, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at 14052 Goodwin St. in Burton.

January Cat Adoptions

Rescue Village is reducing all adoption fees for the month of January. Every cat and kitten is just $20.13.

Adoptable cats are viewable online. For information, call 440-338-4819 ext. 10.

The shelter is located at 15463 Chillicothe Road in Novelty.
