Breakfast With Santa

Parkman Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Breakfast with Santa Dec. 1 from 9 -11 a.m. at the Parkman Community House, 16295 Main Market Road.

Bring a camera to take a photo with Santa and enjoy a breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage and pancakes.

Cost is $2.50 for kids and $3.50 for adults.

Chardon Christmas Lighting

Chardon Square Association will host the annual Christmas lighting on the square and the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus Nov. 29 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The evening will begin with a chili dinner at the Pilgrim Christian Church from 5-7 p.m. The lighting ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the bandstand with music provided by the Geauga Music Center and caroling by the Chardon High School Free Harmony. There will be free cider and cookies provided by the Chardon Area Chamber of Commerce.

The square will be lit at 7 p.m. and Santa will arrive from the North Pole by horse drawn sleigh. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available in the log cabin for kids to talk to about their Christmas wishes.

Open Community Giveaway

Feed My People Inc., an outreach ministry of the community, is having an open giveaway of clothes, household items and toys for families in need. It will be hosted Dec. 6 and 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Dec. 8 from 9-11 a.m. at the Celebration Lutheran Church, 10621 Auburn Road across from E-check.

Tax deductible cash contributions can be mailed to Feed My People Inc., 401 South St. #4B, P.O. Box 82, Chardon, OH 44024.

Relay Christmas Bazaar

A holiday craft and vendor bazaar to benefit Relay for Life will take place Dec. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Chardon V.F.W. Post, 752 Water St.

The event will feature several local crafters and vendors along with a raffle.

Admission is free. Donations to Relay For Life accepted at the door.

Cordial Connections

Cordial Connections provides the opportunity for single seniors 50 and older to meet new people and enjoy a variety of activities. A holiday party will be held Dec. 14.

GEL Breakfast Dec. 7

Bill Rowley, president and owner of Mercury Plastics, Inc. in Middlefield, will be the guest speaker at the next Geauga Economic Leadership (GEL) breakfast Dec. 7 at 8 a.m. at the Burton campus of Kent State University, 14111 Claridon Troy Road.

It will be a combined GEL and Geauga Growth Partnership entrepreneur success breakfast. Doors open at 7:30 a.m.

Pearl Harbor Day

American Legion Post 459 is hosting an event at the Burton Village gazebo on the square at 11 a.m. Dec. 7 to commemorate Pearl Harbor Day. Members of the post will conduct services honoring service men and women. The public is invited. For information, call Bo at 440-834-8764.

Czech Christmas Bread Sale

DTJ Taborville is selling the traditional Czech Christmas bread by order only. Vanocka or houska is a sweet dough with golden raisins and almonds baked into a braided loaf.

Cost is $6.50. Orders must be placed by Dec. 10 and can be picked up Dec. 16.

Ladies Helping Ladies

A Ladies Helping Ladies holiday vendor fair will take place Nov. 30 from 6-9 p.m. at Hambden Elementary School gym. Cost is $1 and includes five raffle tickets for prizes.

Please donate coats, boots, laundry detergent and garbage bags for additional raffle tickets.

Stuff The Bus

East Geauga Kiwanis and Cardinal Key and Builders clubs are sponsoring a "Stuff the Bus" holiday collection to benefit Geauga County Jobs and Family Services. The Cardinal school bus will be at the Wal-Mart parking lot in Middlefield on Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Items to donate may include toys, clothing, gift cards, books and packaged food.

LWV Hosts Holiday Luncheon

The League of Women Voters of Geauga County will hold its annual holiday potluck luncheon at noon Dec. 15 at the home of Janet Kramarz, 13320 Foxmoor Trail in Chesterland.

All members and anyone interested in joining the league are invited to attend and should bring a big dish, pot or tray to share. Beverages, plates and utensils will be provided. A brief board and planning meeting will follow lunch.

Kiwanis Sock & Mitten Tree

The East Geauga Kiwanis Club is sponsoring a "Sock & Mitten" tree at the Crossroads Country Cafe, 15916 W. High St. in Middlefield. Donations of socks, hats, mittens, scarves, gloves and underwear will be accepted until Dec. 16 and will benefit Geauga County Jobs & Family Services.

Toys for Tots Open House

The Luczkowski Agency, 8045 Mayfield Road in Chesterland, is teaming up with the local U.S. Marines to be an official drop off location for the holiday Toys for Tots campaign. Please bring new, unwrapped toys, as donations during regular office hours. Then on Dec. 12 from 5-7 p.m. the Luczkowski Agency is hosting a cookies and punch open house for the community.

All donations go to help children in the community. For information, call Karen Martinkowski at 440-729-4042.

Kiwanis Christmas Tree Sale

The West Geauga Kiwanis Club is holding its annual Christmas tree sale at Chester Square Plaza, in front of Drug Mart. Locally grown Scots pine, Fraser fir and blue spruce, some as much as 10 feet tall, will be available at prices starting at $25. Trees are available weekends from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and weekdays from 4-8 p.m.

All profits are donated back to the community.
