Hop into Spring Craft Show
The annual Hop into Spring craft show featuring 30 crafters selling unique hand-crafted items takes place March 16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Bainbridge Community United Church of Christ, 17751 Chillicothe Road in Bainbridge Township.
There also will be a bake sale and light luncheon.
Corned Beef Dinner
Newbury American Legion Post 663 is hosting a St. Patrick's Day corned beef dinner on March 16 from 4-7 p.m. at the Four Seasons Restaurant, 11394 Kinsman Road in Newbury. Cost is $12 for adults, $7 children under 12. For information, call 440-635-6390.
Church of St. Mary’s Fish Frys
St. Mary’s of Chardon will be hosting its annual Parish Lenten Fish Fry dinners, featuring an all-you-can-eat buffet menu during lent.
Dinners will be served Fridays, March 15 and 22 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. in the Banquet Room.
All proceeds go to St. Mary's School “Adopt a Student” tuition assistance fund. Cost is $12 adult, $6 children ages 6-12, and free children 5 and under.

Good Samaritan Dinner
The Burton Congregational Church, UCC, Good Samaritan Dinner will be held March 20, from 5-6:30 p.m., at the church on the square in Burton. The cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children ages 4-11 and free for children 3 and under.
The homemade meal consists of meat, two sides, bread, dessert and beverage. Takeout is available by calling 440-834-4495 the day of the dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Proceeds go to meet emergency needs of local families.
Middlefield UMC Chili Cook-Off
First United Methodist Church will hold its fourth annual chili cook-off March 16 from 4:30-6 p.m. at 14999 South State Ave. in Middlefield Village. Call 440-636-5576 to enter a recipe.
Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for youth 5-11 and free to children 4 and under.

Chardon Easter Egg Hunt
The annual Chardon Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Chardon Area Chamber of Commerce, will take place March 30 at 10:30 a.m. on Chardon Square. The event is for children 8 and under only. The Easter Bunny will be present and available for pictures one hour before and after the hunt in the Log Cabin for $5.

Annual Dog Shelter Fundraiser
Totally Dogs 4-H Club and Geauga County Recorder Sharon Gingerich are co-sponsoring a dinner and silent auction to benefit Geauga County Dog Shelter and the Geauga Sheriff's K-9 Unit and WAGS for Warriors.
It will be held April 19 from 6-9 p.m. at Chardon United Methodist Church, 515 North St. Cost is $20 for chicken and $25 for salmon. Advance sales only.
Bid on a dog dish made specifically for this event by art students at West Geauga High School.
Please bring dog food and/or dog toy donations for the shelter.

Free Speech Forum
The League of Women Voters' annual free speech forum is March 21 from 7-9 p.m. in the Notre Dame Educational Center Auditorium, 13000 Auburn Road in Chardon.
The topic is shale development or fracking. The format will be a series of preset questions to four panelists representing all sides of the issue.
The forum will then be open to audience questions with a firm time limit set for both the question and the answer.

Cornhole Tournament
The American Cancer Relay for Life of Chardon/Chairs II team is sponsoring a cornhole tournment at the Chardon VFW on April 6 beginning at 4 p.m. Entry fee is $20 for a two-person team. There will be 24 teams.
Frac Free Geauga Meeting
Frac Free Geauga, a grass-roots group of concerned citizens, is meeting to discuss the subject of horizontal hydraulic drilling "fracking." The group will meet at the log cabin on the square in Chardon at 7 p.m. March 18. All are welcome to join in the conversation.

Spring Ahead Bazaar
Claridon Girl Scout Troop 1324 is looking for crafters and vendors for its third annual Spring Ahead Bazaar to be held April 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Claridon Town Hall, 13830 Mayfield Road.

Oink & Squeal Party
The Burton American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 459 is holding an Oink and Squeal Party March 23 at the Burton American Legion Hall, 14052 Goodwin St. The event features a raffle and Chinese auction.
Doors open at 5 p.m. Raffle begins at 7 p.m. Raffle tickets are $2 each. Chinese auction tickets are 10 for $1.
Food will be available through the Legion kitchen. No outside food for consumption, please.
For admission, bring a nonperishable food item, bath item or cash donation for the local food bank.

Maple Syrup’s ‘Sweet’ Past
Maple syrup’s ‘sweet’ past will be Gwen Mayer’s topic as she reveals the ‘sticky’ historical secrets of maple production in this area of Ohio. Her presentation will be held at 1 p.m. March 26 at The Pines at Brooks House Assisted Living, 18122 Claridon-Troy Road in Troy Township.
Mayer works as archivist for the Hudson Public Library and has researched this topic extensively.

Chesterland Tea Party
The Chesterland Tea Party will meet at 7 p.m. March 21 at Orchard Hills Event Center on Caves Road in Chesterland. Speakers are Melanie Elsey discussing Common Core & Agenda 21, Judge Tim Grendell on private property rights, Sarah Fowler with an update on Ohio State Board of Education and Matt Lynch with a legislative update.

Bluegrass Jamboree
A bluegrass jamboree will be held at Hambden Grange Hall, corner of routes 6 and 608, from 7-11 p.m. March 23.

Munson Easter Egg Hunt
Munson Township will hold its Easter egg hunt at 10:30 a.m. March 30, rain or shine, at the township park, 12641 Bass Lake Road. The Easter bunny will arrive at 10 a.m.
Bring a basket or bag to collect the eggs, which will be turned in for a bag of goodies. Children will be divided into two age groups: 2 to 5 years and 6 to 9 years.

Interactive Preschool Storytime
Rescue Village is offering a themed interactive preschool story time for children ages 2 and up. The theme is �Stone Soup,� where the shelter animals will be acting out the characters in the story and participation is requested.
Story time is March 26 at 1 p.m. Fee is $5 for the first child and $2 for each additional child.

WomenSafe Spring Luncheon
Historian Dan Ruminski will discuss Millionaire’s Row, fascinating era in Cleveland’s history, at the 14th annual Friends of WomenSafe spring luncheon to be held May 15 in the banquet room at St. Mary’s, 401 North St. in Chardon. At its height of grandeur, Millionaires Row stretched four miles along Euclid Avenue from Public Square and featured 250 magnificent homes of Cleveland’s most influential families.
Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. The event features a lavish Chinese auction. Lunch is being prepared by Reserve House Catering, with music of harpist Virginia Dickson.

Chardon Kiwanis Maple Sales
The Chardon Area Kiwanis announces the return of maple syrup and maple sugar sales at the Log Cabin on Chardon Square each Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through the Maple Festival. All funds raised through the sale support the scholarships that it awards to Chardon area students and various other projects that it sponsors each year.
In addition to the sweets offered in the Log Cabin, the Sugarhouse and Stir Booth will be open for visitors to enjoy every Sunday prior to the festival from noon to 5 p.m.

Geauga Bee Keepers March 21
The Geauga County Bee Keepers will meet a 7 p.m. March 21 at Kent State University Geauga Campus, 11141 Claridon Troy Road.
Guest speaker is Roy Hendrickson, who will speak on bait hives.

Poor Man's Reverse Raffle
The Knights of Columbus are hosting a Poor Man's Reverse Raffle May 18 from 6-10 p.m. in the St. Helen's gym, 12060 Kinsman Road in Newbury. Dinner will include stuffed cabbage.
Event features live music by Matt Frank along with sideboards, raffle bingo and a top prize of $1,500.
