Genealogy Society Meets
Wally Huskonen will present "Looking Up and Tracking Down 21st Century Relatives" at the March 12 meeting of the Geauga County Genealogical Society.
The program will begin after the 7 p.m. business meeting at the Chardon Library, 110 E. Park St. The meeting and program is free and all are welcome.

Corned Beef Dinner
Newbury American Legion Post 663 is hosting a St. Patrick's Day corned beef dinner on March 16 from 4-7 p.m. at the Four Seasons Restaurant, 11394 Kinsman Road in Newbury. Cost is $12 for adults, $7 children under 12. For information, call 440-635-6390.
Church of St. Mary's Fish Frys
St. Mary's of Chardon will be hosting its annual Parish Lenten Fish Fry dinners, featuring an all-you-can-eat buffet menu during lent.
Dinners will be served Fridays, March 8, 15, 22 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. in the Banquet Room.
All proceeds go to St. Mary's School "Adopt a Student" tuition assistance fund. Cost is $12 adult, $6 children ages 6-12, and free children 5 and under.

Maple Syrup's "Sweet" Past
Maple syrup's "sweet" past will be Gwen Mayer's topic as she reveals the "sticky" historical secrets of maple production in this area of Ohio. Her presentation will be held at 1 p.m. March 26 at The Pines at Brooks House Assisted Living, 18122 Claridon-Troy Road in Troy Township.
Mayer works as archivist for the Hudson Public Library and has researched this topic extensively.

Sugarhouse Dinner
First United Methodist Church is hosting an old-fashioned Sugarhouse Dinner March 9 from 4:30-7 p.m. at 14999 South State Ave. in Middlefield Village. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for youth ages 6 to 12 and free to preschool age children. Call the church at 440-632-0480 for more information.
Oink & Squeal Party
The Burton American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 459 is holding an Oink and Squeal Party March 23 at the Burton American Legion Hall, 14052 Goodwin St. The event features a raffle and Chinese auction.
Doors open at 5 p.m. Raffle begins at 7 p.m. Raffle tickets are $2 each. Chinese auction tickets are 10 for $1.
Food will be available through the Legion kitchen. No outside food for consumption, please.
For admission, bring a nonperishable food item, bath item or cash donation for the local food bank.
Contact any ladies auxiliary member to purchase tickets.
Frac Free Geauga Meeting
Frac Free Geauga, a grass-roots group of concerned citizens, is meeting to discuss the subject of horizontal hydraulic drilling "fracking." The group will meet at the log cabin on the square in Chardon at 7 p.m. March 18. All are welcome to join in the conversation.

Hop into Spring Craft Show
The annual Hop into Spring craft show featuring 30 crafters selling unique hand-crafted items takes place March 16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Bainbridge Community United Church of Christ, 17751 Chillicothe Road in Bainbridge Township.
There also will be a bake sale and light luncheon.
Spring Ahead Bazaar
Claridon Girl Scout Troop 1324 is looking for crafters and vendors for its third annual Spring Ahead Bazaar to be held April 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Claridon Town Hall, 13830 Mayfield Road.

Czech Easter Bread Sale
DTJ Taborville is selling the traditional Czech Easter bread by order only. Mazanec, or houska, is a sweet dough with golden raisins and almonds baked into a round loaf with a cross cut into the top.
Cost is $6.50 for a 1.5 pound loaf. Orders must be placed by March 22 and can be picked up March 24.

WG Indoor Craft, Flea Market
The West Geauga After-Prom presents it 16th annual flea market on March 10 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at West Geauga Middle School.
Event also features a raffle for a 42-inch Insignia TV. Tickets are $10 each or three for $25. Winners need not be present to win.

Please gather any household items (no clothing please) that you would like to donate and drop them off at the middle school on March 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cornhole Tournament
The American Cancer Relay for Life of Chardon/Chairs II team is sponsoring a cornhole tournment at the Chardon VFW on April 6 beginning at 4 p.m. Entry fee is $20 for a two-person team. There will be 24 teams.
Good Samaritan Dinner
The Burton Congregational Church, UCC, Good Samaritan Dinner will be held March 20, from 5-6:30 p.m., at the church on the square in Burton. The cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children ages 4-11 and free for children 3 and under.
The homemade meal consists of meat, two sides, bread, dessert and beverage. Takeout is available by calling 440-834-4495 the day of the dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Proceeds go to meet emergency needs of local families.
Middlefield UMC Chili Cook-Off
First United Methodist Church will hold its fourth annual chili cook-off March 16 from 4:30-6 p.m. at 14999 South State Ave. in Middlefield Village. Call 440-636-5576 to enter a recipe.
Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for youth 5-11 and free to children 4 and under.
