Thanks, Hambden
On behalf of the Board of Trustees and myself, we would like to "thank" all Hambden residents for passing our renewal of the current operating levy on Nov. 6.
We understand that everyone is watching their personal finances during this crucial period in our lives. With the uncertainty of our budgets as a whole, we sincerely appreciate that we have the support of our residents in providing the necessary funds to continue to give our residents the most for their hard earned dollars.
Thank you again and if there are ever any questions from our residents, we sincerely hope that you will address them to us as your township officials.

Pot Not A Gateway Drug
In regards to the story in last week's issue, "County Youth Drug Survey Results 'Scary,'" while I agree with Mr. Miller on the issue of permissiveness and alcohol use in the county, I disagree with him perpetuating the use of the term "gateway drug" in reference to alcohol and marijuana.
Where is the research evidence for this statement?
It has never been factual. Prescription opiates are a "gateway" for heroin, true, but not marijuana.
I have worked for over 17 years as an RN in an Emergency Department and have never once admitted a patient to the hospital because of marijuana use. However, I have cared for many patients with issues related to prescription drug use and alcohol.
You want to talk "gateway," then write about the predatory use of alcohol in sexual assault and interpersonal violence.
