Cuddle Up For Book Sale

The Friends of the Chardon Library will be holding their annual Cuddle Up for Winter book sale Nov. 2-4 in the library's Bostwick room. Most hardbacks are 50 cents and paperbacks are 25 cents.

On Friday, there will be a member's only preview from 1-2 p.m. It is possible to join the Friends or renew membership at the door.

General book sale hours will be Friday from 2-5 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. Sunday is bag day; books are $3 a bag.

Gingerbread House Contest

For over 20 years, the Burton Public Library has had a Gingerbread House-making contest. The contest has four categories: Adult, Teen, Child and Special, with cash prizes for first and second place in each category. Contest rules and entry forms are available online at www.burton.lib.oh.us. Contest rules and entry forms are also available in the library.

Gingerbread houses are due at the library on Nov. 15 and will be on display at the library until Dec. 21.

Online Shopping Class

Burton Public Library will host "Online Deals and Steals," a free class for adults on Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. The class will explore discounted retail sites, auctions, online coupon sites and free shipping offers.

Lakeland Civic Music Concerts

Lakeland Community College presents its musical lineup for the holiday season. All concerts are in the Dr. Wayne L. Rodehorst Performing Arts Center, 7700 Clocktower Drive in Kirtland. Tickets are $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and $2 for students.

Concerts will be held at 4 p.m. Nov. 11 and 18 and Dec. 2 and 9. For concert information, contact the Arts & Humanities Division Office at 440-525-7526.

College Information Sessions

The Lake/Geauga Educational Assistance Foundation is holding the following free sessions for high school students and their parents at the LEAF Resource Center, 8221 Auburn Road, Concord.

On Nov. 3 at 10 a.m., sophomores and their parents can learn how to be prepared for junior and senior years. Learn how to be proactive regarding the college process.

Then, on Nov. 7 at 6:30 p.m., "Academics after High School" will be presented to seniors and their parents. Learn differences between high school and college academics and expectations, as well as how to make the most of the college experience.

LEAF is a non-profit college access agency serving students of all ages with the financial aid process.

Munson Twp. Scholarships

Munson Township is offering two scholarships for graduating seniors. To be eligible, the student must be a Munson resident; have a cumulative GPA of 3.0; a 22 ACT or 1000 SAT score; and plan to attend an accredited two or four-year college or university or technical education institution in the fall of 2013.

Applications may be obtained from area high schools, the township hall or online at www.munsontwp.com. Applications must be received no later than Jan. 22.

Free Preschool Registration

Peace Christian Preschool has openings in its pre-K and 3-year-old classes. Any new family registering in October or November will receive free registration.

It is a state licensed and National Lutheran Accredited School.

Mock Interviewers Needed

Auburn Career Center has scheduled its 10th annual mock interview days for its high school seniors Nov. 12-15 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. The local business community, associate schools and community partners have played an important part in the mock interviews in the past. More than 300 seniors will participate.

Each senior student will be allotted 15 minutes for an interview. Each volunteer will meet with approximately five to six students. The school will provide sample questions and evaluation sheets. Lunch will be provided for all the guest interviewers from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
