Led by senior naturalist Dan Best, the program kicks off with an indoor presentation of winter wildlife survival strategies and ends with an outdoor exploration for sights and signs of winter-active wildlife among this parks rich woodland and wetland habitats.

Shutterbugs: Resolve To Become A Better Photographer
Make a resolution to improve your camera skills and keep it by participating in Geauga Park District's free camera club, Shutterbugs Camera Club, which meets monthly every first Thursday from 7-9 p.m. Regular meetings are held at The West Woods Nature Center, 9465 Kinsman Road in Russell Township, and begin with a casual dropping-off of the month's "assignment" on a table for everyone's observation and enjoyment.
Membership varies from school-age to senior citizen, and includes all skill levels. Meetings generally attract between 30 and 40 people.
Each meeting begins with announcements and a monthly instructional session on a variety of photography topics. Then, after a break for refreshments, members gather around the assignment table and take turns critiquing each other's work.
Scheduled winter programming, which is also posted online, is: Jan. 3, Emerging Technology; Feb. 7, Photographing the Homeless; and March 7, Mock Competition.
Registration is not required.
